Fireplace Surround - Quarter Sawn Oak

Exceptional Victorian tiger Oak tall fireplace surround or mantel. The mantel is finished with various size egg & tongue borders and Grecian key borders. The upper shelf face is S shaped and the mirror is original. The heavy outset round columns are crisply carved with ribbon wreaths & bell floral swags as well as bead and egg & tongue borders. The three sided top capitals are exquisite with upturned dolphins, the bodies with scale detail. The mantel shelf is supported by three S shaped and acanthus carved brackets and the mantel face is adorned with two carved ribbon & bell floral swags. The mantel is set on tall plinth blocks
