Mid Victorian Mahogany Marble Top Dresser

Wonderful mid Victorian Mahogany marble top dresser. The finish looks to be original and still in great condition which has darkened over the years. The dresser will date to about 1850 in the Louis XV style. The large oval mirror set in flame Mahogany frame with bead border and adorned above and below with pierced carved festoons of scrolling foliage. The mirror is supported by two harps with platform base and tall S shaped post with double scroll carved bottom and beautiful floral carved top and the original turned knobs the hold the mirror in the harps. The original white marble with serpentine front edge is in nice condition and has some discoloration and wear as one would expect for its age. The dresser base with three serpentine shaped flame Mahogany drawer fronts finished with applied molding and the sides with scroll carved foliage. The original rosette knobs are all complete and the drawers are hand dovetail construction deep and heavy. The bottom apron is very nice finished on the sides and front with applied C scroll molding and central crest
