R J Horner Inlaid Mahogany serpentine front high boy dresser. There is a tag on the back of this very high quality constructed chest from Paine Furniture whom where a high end store at the turn of the century specializing in carrying such brand names as R J Horner and putting heir name on. The quality is superior to anything you can buy today having all Mahogany sub woods having heavier than normal construction as well as dovetail joints front & back on the drawers. The large Mahogany inlaid mirror frame sits between the 2 harps securely with the original decorative bolts. The original heavy bevel mirror still bright and clear surrounded in the beautifully inlaid frame having a central carved crest between the large C scrolls on the outside edge and banding of inlay. The high chest or base on this dresser has a serpentine front, the top has an inset banded border along the front and sides. The dresser is fitted with 2 smaller drawers over 4 deeper larger drawers all dovetail construction front and back. The heavy ornate brass hardware and knobs are all complete and matching. The inlay is gorgeous with various soft woods and Mother of Pearl. The chest has shaped bottom aprons and sits on cabriole legs ending on scroll roll front foot.
