Victorian Paine Furniture Mahogany & Walnut Server

Signed Paine Furniture hand painted Mahogany & Walnut server. The finish is all original and in really good condition. The top is ribbon grain Mahogany inset with a fine diamond inlaid border and burl Walnut outside edge. The chest is finished with a deep apron of Burl Walnut and is hand painted with an egg shaped urn and finely scrolling ribbons and flowers. The front of the cabinet has two doors which have ribbon grain Mahogany and tight Grecian key border around the inset hand painted panels of Quail bell flowers scroll work and torchiers. The sides are also finished with ribbon grain Mahogany and tight Grecian key border around inset hand painted panels having cherubim holding tall blue vase with flowers and scrollwork. The chest is set on acanthus carved legs and spade foot. The two front doors with original hinges open to reveal three large drawers which slide out and would have been used for linens or serving pieces but today useful for many other uses as well. On the back are the tags Paine Furniture Co. Boston Mass which was the reseller. Paine sold many of the better quality makers of the day. Also on the back are the number code likely from the maker and the shippers paper tag with a number on one end and the name Dennison Mfg Co on the other. The Dennison Co was whom made the paper tags nothing to do with the maker seller or shipper
