Carved Ribbon Grain Mahogany Victorian Drop Front Desk

Stunning Victorian carved ribbon grain Mahogany triple serpentine front drop front desk. The desk was made by a very good maker having highly skilled craftsmanship and high quality materials throughout and is in beautiful refinished condition. The rich ribbon grain Mahogany top of the desk has a shaped & carved gallery back and under is the beautifully carved drop down door on the slant front desk. The sides on this upper section have carved panels and the front with a border of deeply carved acanthus foliage on both corners. The original key which inserts into the lock and open open the door. The original keyhole escutcheon heavy brass arms or hinges on the inside of the desk which hold the writing surface in the open position are in good condition. The interior of the desk is lovely constructed of rich grain ribbon Mahogany and the fitting is as nice as they come with five drawers two of which are serpentine fronts and three are carved as well as various size & shaped letter mail or paper slots having turned spindle posts and the original brass knobs. The bottom portion of the desk with the sides having carved borders around an empty panel. The front is amazing with S shaped acanthus carved corner posts having upturned top edge. Above the top drawer is a serpentine shaped lip which is nicely carved and appears to be the top of the first drawer. The three drawers are serpentine front constructed of the rich ribbon grain Mahogany and each with the beautiful portion of the entire central carved panel. The original very ornate drop handles are magnificent and the desk is set on four carved paw feet

We ship to most areas across Canada and throughout the United States. Smaller packages weighing up to 100 LBS we ship by Greyhound Package Express to the closest terminal to your address which is where you will pick up from. For all larger pieces we ship by blanket wrap movers to your address.
